“ Oorja CAPFs” Curtain Raiser held

SRINAGAR, ( J&K), April 27, 2017 (TVN):“OORJA CAPFs”  Under 19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament for boys and girls is beingorganised nation wide, covering all the states and UTs in India as a talent identification mission and the same is recognized by Ministry of youth affairs and sports, Govt. Of India.

The curtain raiser to “OORJA 2017”  organised  Thursday at TRC ground, Srinagar

for the state of J&K. This tournament is being organised primarily for talent hunt in the run up

to  FIFA under 17 World cup in October 2017, India’s biggest sporting activity ever and leaving a

lasting legacy for the first  FIFA  tournament in India.

As a part of mission XI million, it has been planned to take the beautiful  game of

football  to at least 11 million young boys and girls around the country. This tournament will be

engaging thousands of young under 19 boys and girls over a number of matches being played

during the course of three months and three phases, becoming the largest sporting event ever

organised by  the CAPFs.

The objectives of the tournament are :

● To be a part of mission XI million

● To create fervor among the youth of India towards football.

● To select promising players to represent our country in Asian championship.

● To recruit young and emerging players in CAPFs.

The tournament will be conducted in three phases in which different schools, clubs and other

sports entities will be fielding their teams for the prizes worth lakhs and finally to produce a pool

of talent for Indian team.

In 1st phase, total 16 teams (8 teams each of boys and girls of J&K state) will be competing

for the trophy and the prize money of Rs.4.5 lakhs for the winners and the Runners up.

The logo of “OORJA 2017”  was unveiled with the mission  statement ;Arise, Awake and

stop not until the goal is reached”. The mascot of the tournament GABRUt; the lion cub

epitomise youthful exuberance, unbridled energy, zest for life, incredible desires for success

and achievements.

To carry on the spirit of OORJA, CRPF has decided to felicitate Miss. Tajamul Islam, as the

brand ambassador for this tournament in J&K. She is the youngest kick boxing player from

Kashmir who represented India at Italy in 2016 and won gold medal for the country by her sheer

determination, skill and self discipline. In recognition of her talent,

Asian kick boxing:Tripura’s Nishtha bags bronze medal

AGARTALA, April 30,2017 (TVN): Nishtha Chakraborty, of the state made India proud by lifting the Bronze medal in the ongoing Asian kick-boxing championship being held at Ashgabat in Central Asian country, Turkmenistan .On  Saturday  Nishtha had participated in the tournament as a member of the Indian kick-boxing team and had lost the semi-final.

National Women Football: Tripura defeat UP by 5-3 goals

AGARTALA, Feb 21,2017 ( TVN): Tripura registered its second  major win in the senior women football tournament by defeating Uttar Pradesh by 5-3 goals held at Phagwara city of Punjab on Saturday.

After defeating Uttar Pradesh in the second match of the group, now Tripura girls’ team , now leading the group , after third match of group with Haryana, if the girls of Tripura register another win, Tripura would be group champion and would play the quarter-final match of the senior women football tournament.

In the Uttar Pradesh match, Dipali Halam registered hattrick and two other goals were scored by Sumanti Jamatia and Panchami Debnath. Uttar Pradesh team scored three goals during second half of the match, but could not level score due to strong defense of the Tripura team.

Tripura girls will play their last group match with Haryana on May 24 next.

Tripura Frontier Wins BSF Inter – Frontier Kho – Kho Match

AGARTALA, March 23, 2018 (TVN): The BSF Inter Frontier Kho-Kho Competition” organized by Frontier BSF Tripura to promote traditional tag sport of India  ended on Friday at Kho –Kho ground of Frontier BSF Tripura, Salbagan.

 Chief Minister of Tripura  Biplab Kumar Deb, graced the impressive and colourful closing ceremony.  In his  address  lauded the sincere efforts being made by Frontier HQ BSF to make this Competition successful and declared the first“BSF Inter Frontier Kho-Kho Competition” as closed.

Prior to this in morning session , in an exciting Final Match of the competition, played between BSF Tripura V/S BSF Punjab, BSF Tripura became first ever champion of BSF Inter Frontier Kho-Kho Competition by scoring a victory with a margin of 24 -16,BSF Punjab stand second and BSF Gujarat along with BSF Jammu jointly acquired third position in the competition. CT Subhankar Ghosh of Frontier HQ Tripura declared player of the competition.

 Hemant Lohiya, IG, BSF Frontier Tripura immensely thanked  chief minister  and distinguished guests for their presence and boosting the morale of Bordermen .He also conveyed his greetings to the organising committee, media personnel and other associates for putting massive efforts in making the competition a huge success.

‘Bengal mangoge toh cheer denge': TMC leader Madan Mitra issues open threat to BJP in Mamata Banerjee’s state

Kolkata, Jan20,2021: A few months ahead of the assembly elections in West Bengal, a senior Trinamool Congress leader, Madan Mitra, has issued an open threat to the BJP which is trying to further expand its footprint in the Mamata Banerjee-ruled state.

Addressing a public rally in Howrah on Tuesday, Mitra said, “Those from BJP listen, 'doodh maango to kheer denge, agar Bengal maango toh chiir denge'.” (Listen, you people of BJP, if you ask for milk, we will give you kheer, But if you ask for Bengal, we will rip you off),” Mitra said while challenging the BJP.


Mitra, a former state transport minister,
 further claimed that he will slit his wrist if Mamata Banerjee doesn’t win by a margin of one lakh votes from Nandigram. He made the comment after BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari claimed that he will quit politics if he doesn’t defeat CM Mamata Banerjee with a margin of 50,000 votes.

Referring to him, Mitra said ‘it will be better, he keeps mum.’ The BJP, which is trying to unseat the Mamata Banerjee government in the upcoming Assembly elections, has already sounded the poll bugle in the TMC-ruled state.

India's COVID cases to peak in June-July: AIIMS director

New Delhi, May8,2020:All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Director Dr Randeep Guleria on Thursday said India may witness the peak of COVID-19 cases in June or July. "The answer of when will be the peak of cases of COVID-19 in India depends upon modelling data. National and international both experts are analysing the data. Most of them have guessed that India will most likely see the peak in June or July," he said.

Dr Guleria added, earlier it was analysed that the peak will be in May but due to extended lockdown the peak has also been extended.

It is a dynamic process that depends upon various factors. It is a long-lasting battle. Cases will come even after the peak is passed. People's lifestyle in terms of travelling and socialising will change," he said.

The AIIMS Director also said only with time the quantum of effect of the lockdown in the country will be known. The cases are increasing with the tally on Thursday at 52,952, including 1,783 deaths according to the Union Health Ministry data. The total tally includes 35,902 active cases while 15,266 patients have recovered from COVID-19.
