Two People Die Due To Diarrhea, Says Health Minister

AGARTALA, March 12, 2018 (TVN):  Only two people died allegedly due to  diarrhea under Brajendra Nagar primary health centre in  the Dharmanagar sub division in North Tripura said health minister Sudip Roy Barman.

Talking to reporters in secretariat on Monday  health minister said  the two  were identified as Mani Khandula ( 50) an ASHA worker and Prem Lal Khatur  ( 55). Both resides in Piyaricherra tea estate.

Only  eighteen people was reported to  have affected l due to diarrhea but no one was admitted nor referred to district hospital, said Barman.

He was also informed a medical team under  Dr. N. Darlong, director of FW & preventive medicine   will visit the affected area tomorrow. A health camp was also organized in Tongbari.

Meanwhile stools and under sample was sent to AGMC to find the reason, after seeing the report it will be than confirmed  cause death.

However sources informed that the diarrhea might  have occurred after consuming country made liquor.As its customary for tea garden workers to drink liquor during festivals. On 2 March the workers celebrated Holi festival  and CMO came to know about breakout of diarrhea on 4 March.

Immediately after getting the information he sent Rapid Response Team to Piyaricherra tea estate and organized health camps .
