TSR jawans leaves for poll duties in Chhattisgarh and other states

Agartala, Oct 25,2018:A contingent of 800 jawans and officers of Tripura State Rifles ( TSR) left the state on Tuesday morning to join poll duties in Chhattisgarh. It learnt from sources that 800 selected jawans and officers from eight battalions of TSR were divided into two battalions led by two commandants with assistant commandants.

Hundred jawans from each battalions of 1st, 3rd, 5th and 10th  battalions of TSR were formed the first contingent  for election duties led by commandant H S Darlong and second battalion for election duties are formed  with 400 jawans of TSR's 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th battalions led by commandant Amarjit Debbarma.

After completion of their election duties, jawans of these two battalions will also perform election related duties in poll bound four more states of the country. The assembly elections for 90 seats of Chhattisgarh assembly would be held in two phases on November 12 and November 20 next.

The TSR were earlier sent to Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Haryana, Nagaland and Mizoram on poll security duties.
