Repoll to held 131 polling stations at West Tripura LS seat

Agartala, May 1,2019:The Election Commission seems to have been preparing for conducting re-polls in some polling stations of West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency. As part of the preparations, the ECI in a letter to Ministry of Home Affairs sought deployment of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPFs) in Tripura. The letter did not mention anything about the prospective date of the repoll-it dwelt only on the preparatory security arrangements.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sriram Taranikanti, however ,said that he didn’t receive any such official confirmation inthis regard so far.Nevertheless, the Ministry of Home Affairs ordered specialsecurity arrangements for re-polls in Tripura, which put the administration security apparatus as well as media into a tizzy this evening. Constituency.“On the recommendations of ECI, deployment of 11 coys BSF is hereby ordered from Assam + 04 existing coys of CRPF (total 15 companies of CAPFs) for deployment inTripura with immediate effect and till completion of polls,”the letter said.
