TET: High Court grants time to govt

Agartala, May 1,2019: A Division Bench of High Court of Tripura comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Arindam Lodh on Tuesday  granted four-week time to the government to file its reply on a plea related to recruitment of teachers’ through TET examination.

The Public Interest Litigation, filed by Kaushik Nath, sought directives to the state government to fill up the 12000 vacant posts of teachers through TET. The Division Bench, before whom the petition came up today, posted the matter after four weeks as the government pleader sought time to file its reply.

The petitioner’s counsel told the court that at least 12000posts of teachers are lying vacant with the school education department and no step has been taken on the part of state government to fill up the vacancy that hampered the smooth functioning of schools across the state. Moreover, TET qualified job aspirants have not been appointed yet. The next hearing into the case is pegged on May 29.
