Senior journalist Animesh Datta passes away

Agartala, June 3,2019: Senior journalist of the state and news editor of daily 'Syandan Patrika', Animesh Datta (51) breathed his last prematurely in a private hospital at Silchar in Barak Valley of Assam. He is survived by his wife and a daughter. A resident of Jatrabari in Khayerpur area, Animesh had joined the 'Syandan Patrika' as a sub-editor in the nineties and by the year 1998 he had secured promotion to the post of news editor and in charge of desk. 

A tireless worker and a dedicated journalist, Animesh had long been suffering from serious ailments of liver and kidney both of which needed transplant but he and his family were unable to afford the huge expenses involved in the curative surgeries and transplants. He also had problems in his eyes . After his condition had deteriorated Animesh had been taken to a private hospital in Silchar for treatment but yesterday around 6-20 PM. An amiable man and a dedicated professional , Animesh was universally popular with his colleagues . His mortal remains were brought to his Jatrabari  home and cremation was done .

The editor 'Syandan Patrika' Subal Kumar Dey, secretary of Tripura working journalist association (TWJA) Debasish Majumder and secretary of Agartala Press Club Pranab Sarkar conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family after Animesh's premature death . So did the MLA of Khayerpur Ratan Chakraborty. The TWJA secretary deplored Animeshâ’s premature death, saying perhaps exorbitant expenses in proper treatment could have saved his life.
