Jampui Mizo Convention calls off Sept 4th bandh

Agartala, Sept 3,2019: Jampui Mizo Convention (MC) agreed to put its September 4th bandh on temporary suspension after the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb offered bilateral talk on the issue  of the MC's 40 year long demand of Jampui Hill Autonomous Regional Council.  The  CM also agreed to attend to the Convention's demand of immediate repair of the hill road connectivity.

The bilateral talk is expected to take place at the Secretariat at any date between 4-6 September after the conclusion of the current session of the State Assembly. "The  people of Jampui Hill are happy with the government's unconditional offer of talk, they accept it and are willing to try to test the seriousness of the government on the issue", states Dr Zairemthiama Pachuau, General Secretary of Mizo Convention. "We expect the talk will be open, frank, cordial, and productive  to the extent of establishing a concrete groundwork for future course of action towards the creation of Regional Council in the Hill".
