Bank Manager murder case: Bail of four accused stayed by high court, asked to surrender

Agartala, Dec 18,2019:  High Court of Tripura stayed the bail granted to four accused in the  sensational murder of UCO bank manager Bodhisattwa Das.The four accused who had secured bail on technical ground on December 3, however High Court justice Arindam Lodh directed all four to surrender to court and make their submission, if any. 

Bodhisattwa Das, erstwhile manager of United Commercial Bank (UCO) branch of Dharmanagar, had been murdered on August 2 night near Jackson gate of Agartala by four accused Sumit Chowdhury, Sumit Banik, police sub-inspector Sukanta Biswas and Omar Sharif alias Shoaib. There was a eye-witness to the cruel murder and before his eventual death in Calcutta slain Bodhisattwa Das had given police the names of all the killers. 

The police had made a plea in the court for custodial trial which was granted by the district and session court and the police had filed the charge-sheet within a period of ninety days . But taking advantage of a technical ground following the seizure of a vehicle by police subsequent to the filing of the charge-sheet the accused persons managed to secure bail from court on December 3 and 4.

 This was followed by an appeal to the high court by police seeking custody of the culprits involved. After hearing the plea of police justice Arindam Lodh stayed the bail granted to the four culprits , directing them to surrender in court and make their submission if any.
