Badal Chaudhury again send to 14 days jail custody

Agartala, Dec 18,2019: The former PWD Minister and incumbent deputy leader of opposition, Badal Chaudhury was again sent to jail custody till  December 30 .Badal Chaudhury on Tuesday again produced physically before the special court of West Tripura district and after hearing on bail petition, the court once again rejected the plea and sends him in jail custody for 14 more days.

On December 13 last, the High Court of Tripura had disposed the bail petition of Badal Chaudhury and Justice Arindam Lodh ordered that court in exercise of its power under section 439 of CrPc cannot interpret its own order which was passed on October 31st last in connection of bail plea for Chaudhury.

As scheduled on Tuesday Badal Chaudhury was produced at the court of special Judge Sabyasachi Datta Purkayastha, in absence of Judge Datta Purkayastha, the in-charge special judge Govinda Das rejected the bail petition of Badal Chaudhury.

Another accused in alleged PWD scam case, former chief engineer Sunil Bhowmik was produced before the special court, but his lawyer could not submitted any bail petition as the plea will be heard in the High Court on January 7th, 2020 next. The court also send him for 14 more days in jail custody and Bhowmik will again produced before the court on December 30th next.

Both Badal Chaudhury and Sunil Bhowmik were physically produced before the court from central jail, due to technical fault in video conferencing system of the central jail.

Speaking with media persons on way to jail, Badal Chaudhury again reiterated that he was victim of major political conspiracy and he has faith of judicial system of the country.
