NLFT militants issue show cause notice to MP of BJP Rebati Tripura

Agartala December 21 ,2019 : The outlawed NLFT militants have issued a show-cause notice to BJP MP from East Tripura, Rebati Kumar Tripura asking why he should not be socially boycotted for his support to the contentious citizenship amendment act (CAA) on 10th December in Loksabha.

The self-styled NLFT secretary general D.Uomthai in his letter said that CAA was totally against the vital interests of the indigenous communities of Tripura as it would legalise the illegal stay of immigrants from Bangladesh at the cost of the sons of the soil. 'The inevitable change in the state's demography will have disastrous  consequences for the minority indigenous people and support to such a bill or act is tantamount to acting against one's own community' said D.Uomthai.

He however conceded that MP Rebati Kumar Tripura's lone vote might not have made any material change in the passing or pushing the bill in the legislature but a moral protest could have been lodged on the sensitive issue. "Your supporting vote in the loksabha on 10th December grossly violates the trust reposed in you  by the Borok people of East Tripura constituency negates the mandate ; you should have second thoughts on the issue against this disastrous bill or act" said D.Uomthai.
