Agartala, Dec 25, 2019: Former Tripura  congress  president and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman has floated a new apolitical platform-The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) for the rights of indigenous people.

After having a meeting with his followers at the Palace, Pradyot Kishore who quit the PCC president post protesting indifferent attitude towards party’s stand on indigenous issues, on Tuesday declared formation of new apolitical organization- TIPRA.

In a Facebook live, the royal scion has also cited reason why new apolitical organization has been constituted. "The main objective of the organization will be to struggle in democratic way to protect the rights of indigenous people. I attended a meeting convened by Union Home Amit Shah regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) but no step has been taken to address our concern. Under this circumstance, there is no point of sitting idle. We must raise our voice against CAA", he explained.

Side by side, Pradyot Kishore made it clear that TIPRA would stage a rally at Madhabari in Jirania subdivision on January 8 to recall the horror incident in which several peaceful protestors were assaulted by police. "I do not want to dig the skeleton of this incident that shocked the state a year's ago. TIPRA will raise voice against CAA without harbouring hatred to any caste, creed and religion", he said.

Whatever may the statement of Pradyot Kishore, political analysts feel the royal scion which has influence in tribal belts will try to consolidate it in the run up to the ADC election slated for early next year.
