Biggest haul of Yaba tablets worth of Rs. 8.5 crore seized

Agartala Jan 04 ,2019 :  Border Security Force in its resolution for the Year 2020, has pledged upon to protect the security and sanctity of International Border by tightening noose on smuggling of Narcotics and Contraband items. In this series, BSF along with DRI, Agartala has given the first big jolt to the narcotic syndicate  on the second day of the new year  2020 by seizing the biggest consignment of Yaba in the Northeast region so far.

Acting on specific intelligence input provided by BSF Intelligence branch about storing of huge consignment of Narcotic drugs in the house of an Indian national namely TunuMiah of  Matinagar village under Amtali poice station for smuggling it across border to Bangladesh on January 2nd at about 9 PM by  a joint team of BSF troops and DRI officials, Agartala swiftly cordoned the target house. It is pertinent to mention here that Tunu Miah presently residing at Bishalgarh and has provided his house to his nephew namely Soyag  Miah for further use. On observing joint operation teams of BSF and DRI approaching near the house, the occupants managed to run away taking the advantage of darkness. During thorough search of the house in presence of two independent witnesses, above Ops party recovered two cartons and a polythene bag containing huge quantity of Yaba tablets. The said cartons and polythene bag were opened leading to recovery and seizure of 1,68,500 Nos of Yaba tablets worth around Rs. 8.52Crores along with02Maruti cars, which were being used for transportation of the consignment of drugs. Seized items handed over to DRI Agartala on the spot for further legal action.

Besides above operational achievements, BSF troops deployed on Indo Bangladesh border in Tripura, also succeeded in seizing contraband items like 1145 bottles of Phensedyl, 31 kg Ganja, 03 cattle and other miscellaneous items having combined market value of Rs. 14,69,828/- along with Bangladesh Taka 1,00,000/- on same date.

It is pertinent to mention that during the year 2019, BSF seized and apprehended following items and persons from Indo-BD border in the State of Tripura, which clearly reflects BSF commitment towards making “Tripura -A Drug Free State” and maintaining the sanctity of the International Border.
