Coronavirus : Dhalai district declared as “ Red Zone”

Agartala, May5,2020: After fresh  poistive cases of corona virus  cases  detected in Ambassa and Gandacherra BSF camp, the centre on Monday declared the  the entire Dhalai district  as 'Red Zone' a prescribed protocol under Disaster Management Act.Besides, three localities- 138 Bn BSF headquarters at Jawharnagar, Gandacherra BSF  BOP have been designated as containment area..

While speaking to the media, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath tonight said three km radius of the three containment areas have been sealed as part of precautionary measures. “However, there is no need to get panic as there was no community transmission even if 14 BSF jawans of 138 Bn were tested positive”, he said. The people living in the containment areas are not allowed to step out of homes or camps and the local administration will deliver essential items for them.

Nath said the BSF jawans, who were tested Covid 19 positive cases were asymptomatic, a latest development in the Coronavirus.As many as 203 persons today entered into the state through Churaibari in North district and out of whom 18 came from Covid hotspots. The persons who came back from hotspots were sent to facility quarantine for two weeks. Altogether 167 samples were collected at Churaibari and sent them for Covid test.

As on today, a total of 572 individuals are home guarantied while 128 are put under institutional quarantine. Of the total collected samples 5611, 5394 tests have been carried out.
