First special train from Bangalore carrying stranded people leaves for state on Sunday

Agartala, May 10, 2020:  A special train carrying 1200 stranded persons in various parts of Karnataka, is scheduled to leave for the state on Sunday.In the first phase, 1200 people would be arriving and later remaining stranded persons will be taken back. In Karnataka, a total of 8758 persons of the state are stranded due to the nation wide lockdown.

The state government is keeping close contact with the states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Assam to evacuate the stranded people, said Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath. Till date as many as 33,000 people have got stranded in 11 states due to the lockdown.

While speaking to the media, the Minister tonight said the government would bring back all the stranded people in phase manner. "We giving priority on the ailing persons, students and pilgrims while evacuating the stranded persons", he said.

Altogether 8809 samples have been collected for Covid test till the date while 8340 tests have been carried out till and 132 tested positive and 8221 are tested negative. Two Covid patients have already got cured in the state.

As many as 520 persons arrived at Churaibari, entry point to the state and out of whom 209 are drivers and 40 are patients are stranded individuals. Of the total arrival, 44 persons were sent to facility quarantine from Churaibari checkgate.
