“Shramik Train” carrying 1160 stranded people arrives in Agartala

Agartala, May 14,2020:The frist  “Shramik Train” carrying 1160 stranded people based in Karnataka on Wednesday  reached at Agartala railway station at around 5 pm amidst tight security.

Soon after the train touched down the platform, security personnel cordoned off the entire trains and passengers were asked to proceed one after another towards health desks by maintaining social distancing. Passengers had boarded the train on Sunday evening at Banglaluru.

All the passengers came from Bangaluru were screened by thermal thermometers inside the railway station and those who are asymptomatic were sent to home quarantine for 17 days while those having symptom were pushed to facility quarantine.

The entire process was carried out smoothly under the supervision of District Magistrate (DM), West Tripura Dr. Sandeep Mahatme and Superintendent of Police (SP), GRP Pinkati Samanta.

Altogether 12,782 persons of the state have got stranded in different part of Karnataka and registered their names to return to the home state.

The 37,721 persons, who have got stuck in 11 states because of lockdown registered their names in the state government-run online portal till the date. As many as 8129 people have go stranded in Tamil Nadu, 6174 in West Bengal, 1470 in Assam, 1382 in Talengana, 1400 in Maharashtra and 801 in Delhi.

Another batch of 1400 stranded people staying in Bangalore would leave for the state by another special train on May 15/16 and 1400 people who have got confined in Maharashtra are scheduled to leave for home state on May 15/16.
