Agartala, Jan 5,2020: Death due to medical negligence, The High Court of Tripura, has directed the state government to give compensation of Rs 10 lakh to mother of late advocate Bhaskar Debroy. The division bench of Chief Justice A K Khureshi and Justice S G Chatterjee gave the judgment on Monday. In the interim judgment, the division directed the state government to give the compensation within two months.
On March 7, 2020 late advocate Bhaskar Debroy was admitted in GB truma centre under critical condition. The family members alleged that nor the hospital authority, firebrigade and West Agartala police station informed them. He passed away the night admitted.
Advocates after his death alleged that he died due to negligence of doctors. Police station for not taking FIR even organized protest march and sat in dharna at police station headquarters. Advocate Pulak Saha, registered a writ petition in High Court. In the writ petition it was mentioned that Bhaskar Debroy died due to negligence of treatment.
In the death audit report it was mentioned, the advocate had 17 injuries mark both internally and externally. However, the hospital reported that he had no any kind of injuries. In hospital no testing was done and basic treatment was not given. Senior advocate Pursohttam Ray Barman argued and demanded interim compensation for the nearest keen of the late advocate. The hearing was done before the winter vacation of High Court.
