Acute crisis of air ticket, passengers suffer

Agartala, Oct 28,2018: Due to non – availability of air tickets for last five days from Agartala to Kolkata and Guwahati,  air passengers are suffering. Besides no tickets will be available for next three or four days.

If by chance tickets can be managed but the rate charged is sky rocketing.  It learned from sources due to the crisis patients seeking treatment outside the state  are worst sufferers. Many patients in GBP, TMC, ILS and IGM could not be shifted to Kolkata for treatment.

Not only patients, students studying outside could not return back. They came during   Durga puja holiday.  Even tourists who came unable to return back. Meanwhile the government is not taking any initiative to end the ongoing ticket crisis. The situation further worsened after spice jet withdrew their service from September 1.

The Tripura Government had earlier sought the intervention of the Ministry of Civil Aviation into the case when SpiceJet first announced that it is planning to close down operations at Agartala Airport from September 1, but no developments have been made so far.

In 2012, Jet Airways too had withdrawn from Tripura, following which few other airlines too did the same. The probable reason for airlines major shunning the state is lack of profit despite providing concessions.Indigo and Air India are two other airliners which are operating in Tripura. Indigo runs direct flights between Agartala and places such as Kolkata, Guwahati, Imphal, and Silchar.
