10323: Takes new turn, CJ to preside three judge bench on Nov 1

Agartala, Oct 29,2018: The case of 10323 adhoc teacher took a new turn with the chief justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi deciding to preside over the three judge bench which will hear the case on November 1 in Serial No-A at number one. The two other judges who will also comprise the bench are justice Udai Umesh Lalit and justice D.Y. Chandrachud.

 A final order in the case on the state government's plea for two year extension of service for the adhoc teachers, sanction of 12 thousand non-teaching posts and revocation of the contempt charge against the principal secretary of education. The case had been  listed last for hearing on October 24 but the two-judge bench comprising  Justices Udai Umesh Lalit and D.Y.Chandrachud had posted it for final hearing on November 1.

It had been learnt from reliable sources here said that the chief justice himself had opted to preside over the bench , possibly considering the gravity of the case and the possible impact of the final judicial verdict on the state and its people.
