Indira Gandhi remembered in Tripura

  Agartala, Oct 31,2018:Indira Gandhi,the country’s first and only woman Prime Minister was remembered on the occasion of her 34 death anniversary here on Wednesday.  Pradesh congress remembered  her across the state for her contribution in the party as well as in the field of development in the country .The main pogramme was held at Congress Bhawan  by paying floral tribute where a large number of party workers attended.

In 1984, two of her bodyguards, Beant Singh and Satwant Singh, had shot her at her Safdarjung Road residence in the capital.

Born on November 19, 1917, to India's first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Kamala Nehru, she served as prime minister for three terms lasting almost 16 years.

Indira Gandhi, who is the second longest serving Prime Minister, was well known for path-breaking economic and social reforms, including nationalisation of banks, copper, refining, cotton textiles and even insurance industries.
