Thanks to Modi, state now emerging as hub of SE Asia: Tripura CM

Agartala, Feb 9,2019: Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "unparalleled political will", the once-neglected a state  of the country, Tripura is fast emerging as a hub of South East Aisa, chief minister  Biplab Deb  said today.

“ Prime Minister Modi has laid special emphasis on improving transport and telecom connectivity. Modiji  has personally monitored the implementation of important infrastructure projects,"  Deb  said.

He described the Act East policy as "a boon" that would improve trade, tourism and investment in the Northeast, and said it had brought the region to "the centre of our relation with Southeast Asia".

Deb praised PM Modi for keeping up with the party’s pre-poll promise made before the last Assembly election – to rename the Agartala airport after the last princely ruler of Tripura. “This was what the majority of people in the State wanted and Modiji has fulfilled the wishes of the people,” said the CM.

Chief Minister hailing the interim Union Budget said, “It is pro-poor, pro-women and pro-farmer. The budget will catapult the pace of development in the North East region as the budget proposed to pump in Rs 58,166 crore this year which is a rise of over 21 per cent from the previous year. ”

The budget also reiterated the government's promise to provide 10 per cent quota to Economically Weaker Section of general category without disturbing the existing reservation system, a 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections in educational institutions and government jobs has been ensured, he said.
