Lok Sabha: IPFT threatens to go alone

Agartala, March 12, 2019: IPFT, partner of BJP in the state government threatened of fielding candidates  in  both Lok Sabha seats  if  the East  ( ST reserved )  is not given to them, said Mangal Debbarma, assistant general secretary of IPFT.

Addressing a press meet today at Agartala Press Club, Debbarma said’ “ keeping in view of Lok Sabha election, yesterday night  a secret meeting of  party’s core committee was held. There it was decided to field candidates in both seats, if BJP does not give the East seat to IPFT.”

He said, “In the meeting names of candidates have been finalized in couple of days names will be announced. Besides, a five member election committee has been constituted. Members are - N C Debbarma, Mewar Kr. Jamatia, Brajalal Debbarma, Ananta Debbarma and Mangal Debbarma”

Mangal Debbarma said, “For last six months IPFT has been demanding from BJP leaders to give them the east  Lok Sabha seat. We also gave memorandum to BJP national president Amit Shah placing our demands. On March 7, our leaders met Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb again reiterating our demand. Chief Minister informed it will be decided after BJP national secretary Ram Madhav arrives here on March 13”  

However he ruled out of any kind of threat to IPFT – BJP coalition in near future.

In the press meet Ananta Debbarma and Brajalal Debbarma, vice – president of IPFT, Mangal Debbarma assistant general secretary of IPFT and Swapna Debbarma state committee member of IPFT was present.
