“Achhe Din “for Tripura traffic police soon

 Agartala, April 3,2019:  State traffic police  will soon be having “ Achhe Din” . For the first time in history of state BJP – IPFT government decided to give 50 percent of revenue collected as  fine for flouting  traffic rules end of every financial year”.

According to sources in home department said, “the traffic police was neglected for decades  by previous government. No measures have been taken to modernize the department, for the first time the present government in cabinet decision taken few months back  decided to give 50 percent of revenue to traffic police collected as fine.”

“Last financial year traffic police collected around Rs 6 crore as revenue. Earlier the whole amount was given to transport department. Whereas after the government decision traffic police will get half of the revenue collected i.e. is Rs 3 crore. ” sources said.

 The source said“The traffic of every city around the world is responsible for providing a smooth transport for public on roads. The responsibility  of traffic police increases even more when  vehicles are ever – increasing with people. The amount given  will be used for capacity building of traffic police in state”.

 Meanwhile senior police official requesting anonymity said , “ The traffic police in the state specially in capital city is lacking in electronic gadgets like  - Radio Telephonic Set. There are around sixty such sets only ten are functional remaining are out of order. Those which are functional cannot be used due to shortage of chargers”

“ The Radio Telephonic Set is very essential for traffic. It’s very effective for controlling traffic movement smoothly and message’s  can be easily communicated far better than any other electronic gadgets. As capacity building traffic will procure these kind sets. Besides it’s proposed to procure some Hydraulic crane’s and two interceptor vehicle’s, said the police official.

“In the wake of high number of  accidents in the city  the state – of – art  interceptor vehicle  will be useful  to keep a close vigil on traffic rule violations that result in serious road accidents. The newly-acquired vehicle is equipped with speed laser gun and a breath analyzer kit. With this, the staff on the vehicle can get a precise record of the speed of a particular vehicle plying on city roads.The vehicle would also be put to good use during the visits of VIPs, when additional security and vigilance would be required” added the official.
