PCC president wants all party meeting on rising political violence in Tripura

Agartala,July 8,2019: Pradesh Congress president Pradyot Kishore Debarma asked Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to convene all party meeting immediately  on rising  political violence  in the state.      

Addressing a press meet today evening at congress bhawan, PCC president said, “never before in the state democracy was under threat as it is now under BJP rule”

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Biplab Deb, he  said,’’ every now and then he speaks of making the state a model state in three years, but the reality is ,law and order have  collapsed in the entire state. The state has now become number one political violent state in North East”.     

Speaking about the schedule three tier panchayat election, he said BJP workers have unleashed a terror on opposition party workers. They are not allowed to file nominations. Today was the last day of filing nomination, congress candidates and including some senior leaders was assaulted in front of police officers. At least twenty congress workers were injured in different parts of state due to political violence.   

What is happening in Tripura is just the replicate of Bangladesh and West Bengal. The bike squads of BJP are creating total lawlessness in the state, said PCC president.

He strongly condemned the BJP and Congress will fight back in coming days democratically. In state Congress has emerged as the opposition party and CPM even after remaining power for 25 years have vanished from the state within one year.    

Senior Congress leader Gopal Roy, Pijush Kanti Biswas, Tapas Deb and Laxmi Nag was present in the press meet.
