Samarjit Chakraborty nabbed for attacking “Tripura Times “office

Agartala, Aug 22,2019: Police posted in West Agartala police station last night arrested street ruffian Samarjit Chakraborty, one of the two prime accused in the attack on the office of leading english daily 'Tripura Times' on August 14 night .An accomplice of fugitive guest lecturer of Tripura Central University (TCU) Moti Kapoor, Samarjit was in the habit of flaunting his multiple identities as RSS worker, Cow protection activist and BJP man all of which were false.

He was also involved in lot of mischievous activities in the TCU along with errant Moti Kapoor and had attacked the office of 'Tripura Times' after the newspaper had published pictures of Kapoor showing him in dance mood,, teaching karate skill to students in a class. One senior reporter and one  staff members of of 'Tripura Times' sustained minor injuries in the attack.

The police had launched a massive manhunt to nab Moti Kapoor and Samarjit Chakraborty after filing of the FIR by the 'Tripura Times' staff , keeping a tab on their movements and finally a police team led by SDPO (Sadar) Dhruva Nath and  officer in charge of West Agartala police station Debaprasad Roy raided the house of Samarjit at Beltali Road No-8 last night on the basis of a tip-off and nabbed him.

He is currently under interrogation and the police will seek his custody for a few days for intensive interrogation after producing him in court today. Deba Prasad Roy, the officer in charge of West Agartala police station, had said shortly after filing of the FIR "the duo do not know what kind of music they will face now". This has partially come true and now Roy and his team is trying to nab the other fugitive accused Moti Kapoor whose movements are being monitored.
