Govt to give licenses for more 21 liquor shops

Agartala, Sept 3,2019: On one hand  the Chief Minister Biplab Deb wants “ Nasha Mukt  Tripura” on the other hand state revenue department decided to give new 21 licenses for opening both foreign and country made liquor shops in the state.

This was stated in assembly on Tuesday by Deputy CM Jisnu Dev Varma. He  was replying to call attention notice raised by MLA of BJP Sudip Roy Barman regarding opening of bar in the state.  Besides, the government has plan to open bar in the state for boosting tourism sector, Dev Verma said.

Sudip Roy Barman raised doubt how the state will become “ Nasha Mukt Tripura” if bars and new liquor shops are opened in the state. He said, when Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after taking oath declared of making the state  free from drugs, ganja and liquor to save the youths future. On the other hand, the revenue department is planning to open bar and liquor shops. It will convey a wrong message to the people of the state against the Chief Minister.

Deputy Chief Minister said,  the state government   fight is against drug, ganja and illegal sale of liquors. The illegal sale of liquor in the state is high due to shortage of legal liquor shops.
