TTAADC: No ESMA, free treatment of patients

Agartala,Sept 9,2019: Tripura Tribal Area  Autonomous District Council ( TTAADC) will not enforce ‘ ESMA ‘  and no fee will be charged from  patients who come for treatment at TTAADC run hospitals. This was announced by Radhacharan Debbarma, CEM in  ADC session yesterday.

Addressing the  session he said TTAADC runs as per ‘service rules’ of state government. The black law ‘ESMA’ will not be enforced in TTAADC at any cost. He also stated TTAADC runs two hospitals one at Twikarma and the other   at Kherangbar, at both hospitals also the TTAADC administration will not charge any fees from patients.

The Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) 1968 Act of Parliament was passed in tis monsoon session of assembly in spite of strong opposition from CPM.As  per the Act in the state if any person booked under te Act would be punished for imprisonment for three years  or fine of Rs 10,000 or both.This act will also give rights to the police in arresting the person without warrant.

Besides te BJP – IPFT government has increased  the fees charged for various diagnostic procedures and treatment in government hospitals in the state.The health and family welfare department night through a notification, announced two-three-fold increase in the fees charged for treatment in government run hospital besides introducing new fees in some services.
