Bru agitation withdrawn, after restoration of ration supply

Agartala, Nov 07,2019: The  displaced Bru’s living in relief camps withdrew their agitation  after eight days off  indefinite road blockade  in Dasda – Kanchanpur area under Kanchanpur sub division, North Tripura.Ther agitation was withdrawn  after Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devvarman announced restoring of ration supplies to the camps.

The supplies were stopped by the Government of India from October 1 this year.

A high level team led by Deputy Chief Minister on Thursday visited the area and said,”We have good news for you. We the state government have decided to provide ration to the Bru camps. Food will be supplied in the camps from tomorrow and will continue till November 30.”

Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath and two Lok Sabha MPs Pratima Bhowmik and Rebati Tripura.

Expression reaction to  the government’s decision, Mizoram Bru Displaced Persons Forum (MBDPF) general secretary Bruno Msha said “We are happy with the decision to resume food supplies in the camps. We were hungry. This is a welcome move.”

Earlier , a team of Congress leaders led Pijush Kanti Biswas visted the area and talked with the agitatotrs.

Six migrants, including four infants, died in the camps in the last eight days . Bru leadrs have alleged these deaths were caused due to starvation. At least 50 others were hospitalized after they collapsed due to exhaustion, Deputy CM , however denied of aany information of starvation death.
