Farmers, Mazdoors storms state capital, demanding fulfillment of promises made by BJP

Agartala, Nov 12, 2019: Thousands of farmers and daily labourers  under the banner of  All India Kishan Sabha ( AIKS) and Tripura  Khet Mazdoor Union (TKMU) on Wednesday  stormed Agartala, capital of Tripura.

The rally which was scheduled to begin from  11 am, from early morning people started gathering at various rail station from Dharmanagar to  Sabroom station to board trains.

With passage of time, farmers and daily workers started entering the capital in thousands. As per the programme schedule at first they will organize a protest march and then party leaders will address the rally. But the police administration did not give them permission to organize protest march. However, permission was given for organizing rally, which was addressed by senior party leaders.

The rally was  for gathering in support of their 12-point charter of demands including  200 days job under MGNREGA with minimum wages of Rs. 340, waiving of loans  etc.  

Today’s rally is of great significant,according to political pundits, CPM was removed from power less than two years back by ruling BJP – IPFT.  Whereas, in less than three months, CPM  successfully organized two protest rallies. First on September 16 by DYFI and SFI, and second on Wednesday by AIKS and TKMU.According to information more than 35,000 CPM workers attended the rally.
