Bidhan Chandra Roy , an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the police unarmed branch who escorted Badal Chowdhury within the court premise from behind has been transferred today to remote Manikpur police station of Dhalai district. The transfer order slapped on the ASI has been signed by Sudipta Das (PS) in the office of assistant inspector general (AIG) of police . Sources in the police said that despite being low in the police hierarchy ASI Bidhan Chandra Roy is being held responsible for Badal Chowdhury's interaction with the media when he was being escorted to court.

Hapless Bidhan Chandra Roy was not available for comment but in an audio clip doing the rounds in social media he is quoted, supposedly without his knowledge,   as having said " I am deeply shocked as I do not know the reason for my transfer to a remote police station only two years ahead of my retirement; there were senior officers in front of the former minister to keep the media at bay and I as merely an ASI walking behind had nothing to do in the matter". In the audio clip he is also quoted, possibly beyond his knowledge, as having said that he will consider applying for voluntary retirement.
