Govt decides to abolish science stream from 25 schools in west district

Agartala, May 04,2020: In an  unprecedented  decision the education department decided  to  abolish science stream from 25 schools in west district and various arts subject from 35 schools including commerce stream  from next academic session. Almost all schools are located in rural areas. A notification, in this regard was issued  on Saturday by District Education Officer of West Tripura.

The schools from which science stream will be withdrawn are – Ananda Nagar HS School, Sukhomoy HS School, Madhuban HS School, Gandhigram HS school, Mandwi HS school, Choudhury Bari HS school, Bodhjung Girls HS school, Resham bagan HS school, Kabiraj Tilla HS school, Badharghat HS school, Nandanagar HS school, Acharjee Prafulla  Chandra HS school, Dr. B R Ambedkar HS school, Vidrohi Kavi  Kazi Nazrul HS school, Nutan Nagar HS Islam HS school, Belabar HS school, Madhuban ( D) HS school, Raniganj HS school, Champarknagar school, Narsinghar HS school, Ishanpur HS school, Kamalghat HS school, Aboy Nagar HS school and Nabagram HS school.   

If the decision is implemented, means students rural areas  will know   face  tremendous hardship to study science, they have to move towards urban areas for getting admission in science stream. Seeing the economic condition of rural people how far it will be possible  for them take admission in far flung schhools time will tell. Meanwhile, serious  resentment is brewing among parents and students regarding abolishing of science streams in 25 schools of West districts.

The government view is, policy has been taken to abolish science streams from schools where there are less than 20 students. Accordingly, survey was conducted by DEO of West Tripura the report was submitted. Basis on the report the education department took the decision. Similar decision will be taken in remaining schools of seven other districts.
