Coronavirus: Central team arriving in Tripura

Agartala, May 14,2020: A central team led by  Prof. GK Medha who is the Head of Department (HoD), Community Medicine in NEIGRIHMS, Shillong is all set to arrive here to find out the root cause of coronavirus outbreak at BSF 156 Bn headquarters, Jawharnagar in Dhalai district.

Soon after arrival, the team members will have a meeting with Addl Chief Secretary SK Rakesh who is in charge of health department  and a discussion on the outbreak will be held,said Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath.

However, there has been no confirmation if the team will visit Jawharnagar, the breeding ground of coronavirus outbreak. It has been reported that the Central team will have a video conference session with the Central Surveillance Authority in Delhi.

Alarmed at the outbreak at BSF headquarters, the state government had requested Central Surveillance Team, Delhi to send a team to the state to find out the root cause of the outbreak at Jawharnagar. On the state government part, it was also feared that community transmission of Coronavirus may take place if proper steps are not taken immediately.

Despite major outbreak of coronavirus, the overall situation in the state appears satisfactory with no casualty is reported yet. A total of 11,733 samples were collected for Covid test out of which tests have been conducted in 11146 cases. A total of 155 samples tested positive while 16 Covid patients have got cured in course of treatment. Today, 12 BSF personnel who were tested positive were tested negative.
