Doctor beaten by BJP leader in Sabroom

Agartala, April 3,2019: A BJP leader has reportedly beaten one government doctor.According to information BJP Sabroom Mandal president Arjun Debnath went to Srinagar Primary health centre to meet the in-charge doctor Ayan Bhattacharjee on Monday.

As the BJP leader  entered into the official chamber another Dr Dipal Mitra, who was engaged in some important discussion with Dr Ayan Bhattacharjee  asked the identity of Arjun Debnath the and purpose of his entry.

The Mandal president  started hot altercation with both doctors and after couple of minutes, Debnath, losing his control, started beating Dr Dipak Mitra with his shoes and abused him with racial slurs.

Later, the victim doctor filed a complaint before the subdivisional (Sabroom) medical officer Dr Pritam Das. Dr. Pritam Das, speaking with media persons, said that after the incident was reported, he immediately rushed to the Srinagar primary centre and after discussion with the victim doctor, he suggested him to seek legal action against BJP leader and subdivisional medical administration will do their best for the justice to victim doctor.

On Monday evening, police personnel including the officer-in-charge (OC) of Sabroom police station and in-charge of Srinagar police outpost rushed to the primary health centre to meet the victim doctor. The police however is yet to register a FIR and take action against guilty Arjun Debnath.


Sports journalist Biswajit Sharma passes away

Agartala, April 1,2019: After a prolonged illness, BiswajitSharma, considered to bestate’s one of the finest sports journalist, has passed away this morning. The 41-year-old scribe who was associated with Tripura Times and also was a former secretary of Tripura Sports Journalists Club died of kidney failure.

He breathed his last at Bishalgarh residence  Sunday yearly morning. He is survived by wife andlone son.

Several times in the past, Biswajit went to outstation Hospitals to avail better treatment. Despite all possible  efforts, attempt for kidney transplantation failed due to non-availability of appropriate kidney for him.

The demise of Sharmashocked the entire mediafraternity including themembers of Tripura Times.Chief Minister BiplabKumar Deb, Tripura SportsJournalists Club, TripuraTimes and many others have condoled the death of Sharma.

Blue Mount English School, Jampui Hill Celebrates Annual Cultural Day

Election violence: CPM gives memorandum to police observer

Agartala, March 28,2019: CPM today handed over a memorandum to police observer appointed by Election Commission for  West Tripura Lok Sabha seat citing hooliganism and  obstruction  waged by BJP workers and miscreants.

In the memorandum they stated that Left Front candidate Sankar Prasad Datta and other CPM leaders, workers  were  attacked four times in last one week in various parts during  election campaign.

CPM in the memorandum demanded that all the miscreants involved in the incidents mentioned  in the FIRs should immediately  be brought to book. Besides all CPM offices in the state should be brought under the armed police security cover .

The memorandum also stated about stern vigilance should be made over the attempts of foul means to overpower  the voters by evil means and the attempts of rigging and intimidation of the voters  and polling agents of opposition parties should be strictly  put down in and around  the polling booths and also bike regiment should be strictly restricted.                

L F candidate attacked again in Garjee

Udaipur, March 27,2019: Left Front candidate Sankar Prasad Datta was again reportedly attacked today at Dataram under R K Pur police station.

CPM state secretary, Gautam Das  in a letter to Chief Electoral Officer stated that Left Front candidate    Sankar Prasad Datta alongwith MLA Ratan Bhowmik and CPM Gomati district secretary Madhav Saha went to Dataram to attend a party meeting.

Barely after five minutes when the meeting started some known BJP workers started throwing brick – bat and chasing the leaders with lathis and other weapons. They had broken up the vehicle ( TR01 - K - /0593) of Madhab Saha and campaign vehicle ( TR01 – D/0458).The leaders had to save their lives  abandoning the meeting and four of CPM workers was injured in the attack, stated Das in the letter.

He further alleged that the attack was carried on in presence of OC, Garjee police out post who had few numbers of policemen. There was no presence of central force or TSR.

It is mentionable here that Sankar Prasad Datta was attacked at three places on March 24 when he was for election campaign. On that day he was attacked at Mohanpur, Biramganj and Bishalghar.                  

News Vanguard and Tripura Times Conclave to be held on March 31
