Tripura Water Has No Arsenic, Says DWS Minister

Agartala, April 16 (TVN):No arsenic is found in Tripura water according to report ,but iron is found, said Ratan Bhowmik, Minister, Drinking Water and  Sanitation (DWS).

Speaking to reporters at secretariat on Friday said, the  government is working to supply iron free water to all, by constructing iron removal treatment plant.

He said there  are permanent source of water in all 8,723 hamlets of the state, whereas during dry season some hamlets face water scarcity as the  water ground level goes down.Water is supplied through tanker, at present in 49 hamlets water is supplied by tankers.  

Out of 8,723 hamlets,  4,490 hamlets have  of water as per national standard. The national standard is 40 litres of water per person/ per day.   433 hamlets have partial source of water, 10 to 40 litres of water per person/ per day.   

Border Ceremony Facility At Agartala Checkpost, Centre Sanctions Fund

Agartala, April 16 (TVN):The Centre has sanctioned Rs. 18.09 crore to establish a border ceremony facility like Wagah border  at Agartala check post.Of the total outlay, 25 percent money has already been released to the state government to push the plan- facilitating Wagah border like facility- beating retreat ceremony, said Tourism Minister Ratan Bhowmik.
Speaking to the media on Friday at secretariat  , he said under the plan, an open theater, conference hall and gallery would be constructed to show beating retreat parade by BSF and BGB personnel.
Bhowmik hopes hundreds of people would be assemble to witness the show to be displayed by border guards  BSF and BGB.

Speaking about footfall in tourism for 2015 -16, the minister said he tourist footfall has gone up to 3.69 lakh in 2016 from 3.16 lakh in 2015. Of the total tourists, the number of foreign tourists stands at 32794.

Ambedkar 125th birth anniversary celebrated

Agartala, April 14 (TVN):The 125th birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar was celebrated today here at across the state. The main programme  was organised  here at  the state museum Ujjayanta Palace. Ratan Bhowmik, SC Welfare Minister garlanded the statue of  Ambedkar.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said   Ambedkar was a great crusader against untouchability and uplfitment underprivileged section of the society. Due to his relentless  long fight the backward people of our country are getting their rights. He also expressed his deep concern about rising  attacks on dalit in the country and  appealed to stand against such acts.

 It was a colourful event with children performing various cultural activities. A procession was also taken out in the city to observe the birth anniversary of the architect of Indian Constitution.Various other political parties and organisations oraganised programms to mark the birth anniversary of Ambedkar at different places in the state.

Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891. Popularly known as ‘Babasaheb’, he was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement and campaigned against social discrimination and untouchability. He was Independent India's first law minister and the principal architect of the Constitution of India.

 

Bengali New Year: Festivity all around

Agartla, April 14 (TVN):The  Bangla year 1423 arrives, ushering in renewed vigour and a sense of joy among the Bangalees.

With great enthusiasm, they are taking part in Pahela Baishakh festivities.People were busy making last-minute purchases and preparations for the special day, braving the scorching heat yesterday, the last day of Bangla month Chaitra.

Baishakh attire showcasing folk themes has risen to such popularity in recent years that the occasion sees the highest sales of clothes after  Durga Puja  the biggest religious festival of  Bengalees.

Hilsa, the most coveted item on the first day of Bangla New Year, is off the menu of many, as its price skyrocketed over the last few weeks.

 Various cultural organization will organize various progam on the occasion o Pahela Baishakh. From early morning long queue of people are seen in temples.  

MBB Varsity: New Vice – Chancellor to join on April 15

Agartala, 13 (TVN):Dr. Gautam Basu, will take charge as first vice – chancellor of MBB University on  April 15. This was informed by Education Minister, Tapan Chakrabroty on Tuesday at secretariat. He also informed  that  construction  of administrative ,  science, arts and commerce block of the new university is complete  After the joining of Dr. Basu, other administrative officials including  register will be appointed, the minister stated,

He also stated that the tenure of vice – chancellor will be five years or 65 years. From next academic year MBB university will start functioning. However, the minister also informed that Union Ministry of HRD yet to give green single which six colleges will be affiliated from the central university, however he is hopeful  that the approval for affiliation  will come soon.                    

AMIE exam begins from June 4

Agartala, April 12 (TVN):AMIE (Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers) exam will held on June 4  at Institute of Engineers, state branch office examination hall , Gorkhabasti, according to a press release issued today.   For details  candidates can call –  2304700, besides coaching will also be given, the release added. Institution of engineers India offers AMIE Program in two sections – Section A and Section B.

Section A is common for all candidates. Under section b a member chooses a particular discipline of engineering program. The application forms for enrollment as senior technician (st) / technician (t) members of the institution are received throughout the year.

Sections A & B examinations of the institution are held twice a year, generally in June and in December and are termed as summer and winter examinations respectively.

A candidate wishing to appear in the institutions examination should apply first for enrollment as a member using prescribed st / t application form. If he is found eligible for Enrollment as a member, he may be able to appear in the forthcoming examination.
